General Job Brief:
In support of the University's mission, the Student Engagement Coordinator assists the Director in leadership of a variety of services and programs relating to student life on campus. This position will oversee student leadership teams, as well as plan student life activities and act as a contributing member of the student services staff.
This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through student engagement and person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.
Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly with the student life staff and assist them in their leadership, growth and evaluation of activities and volunteer teams.
- Assist with Campus Recreation, local community engagement opportunities, and service projects.
- Work collaboratively with Enrollment in planning and organizing New Student Orientation, Week of Welcome events, and First Year Experience.
- Assist in the calendaring of events for students to be aware of all opportunities on campus to be engaged.
- Supervise campus events and ensure objectives are met in accordance with university standards and expectations.
- Assist the Director with the election and appointment process of student leaders.
- Assist the Director with student activities surrounding athletic events.
- Work collaboratively to support all aspects of the student services mission and promote holistic development of students.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves on various University committees as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
Knowledge:
- Must possess knowledge related to college student life, student development, and higher education.
- Must exhibit a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with and be able to sign the Statement of Faith and Core Commitments of Arizona Christian University.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- 1-2 years' experience working in an environment related to higher education, college student development, recreation activities, residence life, ministry, or another related field preferred.
Ability and Skills:
- Ability to complete tasks and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others and to work harmoniously with related personnel.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Management of student leaders and volunteers.
- Ability to review operations for efficiencies; make suggestions for improvements.
- Commitment to the University's faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith
- Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff
- The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings
Working Conditions:
College campus environment
Office hours to accomplish administrative tasks
Meeting with students as needed
Campus recreation activities in both indoor and outdoor settings
Time Required:
Evening hours throughout the academic year for campus events and recreation as scheduled.
Daily work hours in the office to plan and prepare for events
Weekly hours range from week to week depending on recreation and activities calendar
